I was born in guatemala in 1960 and grew in the city I lived in the same place for 10 years. Later I moved out of the city to one town, Antigua, guatemala. This is the most wonderful town because it survived two earthquakes: 1923 and 1976. In this town the climate is similar to Massachusetts. This is one of the first town in Guatemala. Around the town are 3 volcanos. That's why it's prone to earthquakes, in this town Holy Week is celebrated every year. Good Friday is celebrated specially. Two hours from the town is the one special lake Atitlan because the water is very clear and this town live only natives and is visited by many tourists from around the world. I recommend to you to take a vacation there. It is very nice.
This picture is after the first earthquake.
Why is the weather similar massachussetts?

Do you remember the earthquake of 1976, when you were sixteen? Can you tells us about the experience of the earthquake? Where were you? How did it feel? Were you scared? I have never felt an earthquake, I'm very curious.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Victor, our country is a beautiful place. Guatemala has a lot of wonderful landscapes everywhere you go. The weather we have is one in a million that's why we called it "the country of the eternal spring".

Victor,
ReplyDeleteWere you a volunteer with the Red Cross? Did you personally remove the dead bodies? I can't imagine how horrible this must have been. In the last sentence, do you mean it took two years to rebuild the city? Did the government pay for this project?
